The popularity of previous gold and bi-metal versions of the Rolex Yacht-Master II made it almost definite that at some stage Rolex would produce this watch in stainless steel. At Baselworld in 2013 Rolex gave the announcement that all Yacht-Master II fans had been, with the unveiling of the Rolex Yacht-Master II 116680.

As with previous models the new Rolex Yacht-Master II carries all the same functionality introduced for this collection, including the new 10 minute regatta countdown chronograph controlled from the bi-directional bezel. The 44mm case sits on a Rolex Oyster bracelet and both are formed of Rolex 904L stainless steel. The bezel finished in a striking blue cerachrom ceramic features the new ‘Ring Command’ functionality to enable setting of the watch time and chronograph from the crown. The clasp, features the ‘Easylink’ 5mm comfort extension link allowing the watch bracelet to be adjusted easily to tolerate expansion of the wrist in varying temperatures without the need for any tooling.
