Rolex GMT-Master

Rolex’s GMT-Master wristwatch was launched in 1954 - following lengthy discussions with Pan American World Airways - designed for use by both airline pilots and crew. This unique model stood out due to one key feature; a fourth hand allowing aeroplane staff to set a second time zone onto the watch face.

The GMT Master was the first watch to boast this function, allowing pilots to view both their own time zone and that of their destination in-flight. Originally conceived as a work watch, the GMT Master has always had functionality as its key selling point, with the stainless steel look a non-negotiable feature in its first days. In recent times, however, Rolex have altered the watch numerous times for style purposes, leading to it becoming a firm favourite amongst both pilots and watch aficionados alike.
