IWC Portugieser

Inspired by Portuguese explorers of the 15th and 16th Centuries, IWC’s Portugieser was a revolutionary addition to the industry when it was released in 1939 and has retained its status as a legend within seafarer’s watches ever since.

Containing a range of features aimed to aid explorers’ passage across large stretches of water, the Portugieser is renowned for its seven-day movement, perpetual calendar and minute repeater functions. What’s more, it features a Breguet spring in order to guarantee the very highest degree of accuracy. The Portugieser has enjoyed a series of makeovers in the decades between its inception and the present day, with The Yacht Club perhaps the most well-known of these. Launched in 1967, this sporty take on the original Portugieser boasts impressive shock resistance as well as water resistance to a depth of 100m, adding even more functionality.
