Perhaps the most famous of all the Breitling models, the Navitimer was unveiled in 1952 as a wristwatch developed specifically for use by pilots. Soon after its release, the intricate timepiece became the official watch of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), and has since been a favourite of pilots and aeronautical enthusiasts alike ever since.
The Navitimer’s major selling point is its incredible functionality. It features a slide rule bezel for helping with calculations such as flight times and fuel consumption, whilst later editions of the watch were made 10% larger for the sake of easy visibility. Alongside this, the Navitimer is often commended for its ever-evolving design, with a range of differing dials, cases and straps released over the years.
